About The Garden

Located in Foxglenn Park in beautiful Flagstaff, Arizona

The Children's Garden of Flagstaff is a positive place of emotional healing for all members of the Flagstaff community and offers a public remembrance of all children lost too soon.  So often the loss of a child is a silent and hidden grief and it is our hope that we can establish a public space for healing.

This space was created to reflect and celebrate the lives of our children, those still with us and those who have gone on before us. Each life, no matter how long or short, makes a huge impact on those who love them and share that love with others. Our children live on because we remember them.

The Design

Architect Jesse Stemmler of Stemmler Design has created a design that includes an entrance gateway, winding paths, a central gathering space, climbing boulders, and metal ribbon with individual plaques for children's names.

The memorial plaques will be available to honor all children gone too soon regardless of age, place, or circumstances of death. Our May 2020 installation is now complete. We installed the final 17 plaques to complete the beautiful memorial wall. Although we were unable to hold our annual plaque dedication ceremony in 2020, please feel welcome to visit the plaques at your leisure in Foxglenn Park.

Be sure to follow us on our Facebook page for all news and announcements!

The Plan

Our ribbon-cutting and 1st Annual dedication event took place on May 21, 2017! Thank you to everyone who joined us on that beautiful day!

Phase I took place in Fall of 2016 and included the site prep, grading, boulder work, installation of the metal ribbon, and pathways. You can check out our progress in the pictures to the left.

Phase II took place from Spring-Fall 2017, and included the installation of the gateway, the entrance garden, donor pavers, plantings, and installation of the children's memorial plaques.

Phase III took place from November 2018-May 2019. It included the installation of our beautiful center sculpture entitled “The Journey” and the landscaping surrounding it.
